name: rose amin
No 18 Rue Meiway,
Abidjan,Ivory Coast,
W. Africa.

Dear Good Friend.I am Mrs Rose Amin, from Cote d'Ivoire in West Africa. I was marrie to Mr Rahim Amin from Kuwait who was the chief consular in thier embassy in Cote D'Ivoire for nine years before he died in the year 2002. We were married for eleven years without a child.
Before his death we were both born again Christian. Since his death I decided not to remarry or to get a child outside my matrimonial home which the Bible is against.
When my late husband was alive he deposited the sum of $8.5 Million with a Security company here in Lome-Togo. Presently this money is still in the custody of the Security Company.
Recently, my Doctor told me that I would not last for the next Eight months due to cancer problem. Having known my condition I decided to donate this fund to good person that will utilize this money the way I am going to instruct herein.
I want a church, organization or good person that will use this fund or orphanages, widows, propagating the word of God and to endeavor that the house of God is maintained.
The Bible made us to understand that"Blessed is the hand that giveth".l took this decision because I don't have any child that will inherit this money and I don't want my husband's efforts to be used by unbelievers. I don't want a situation where this money will be used in an ungodly way.
This is why I am taking this decision. I am not afraid of death hence I know where I am going. I know that I am going to be in the bosom of the Lord.Exodus 14 VS 14 says that "the lord will fight my case and I shall hold my peace".
I don't need any telephone communication in this regard because of my health hence the presence of my husband's relatives around me always. I don't want them to know about this development. With God all things are possible.
As soon as I receive your reply I shall give you the contact of the security company. I will also issue you an authority letter that will prove you the present beneficiary of this fund. I want you and the church or the organization to always pray for me because the lord is my shephard.
My happiness is that I lived a life of a worthy Christian. Whoever that Wants to serve the Lord must serve him in spirit and Truth. Please always be prayerful all through your life.
Contact me on the this email address and any delay in your reply will give me room in sourcing another good person for this same purpose.
Please assure me that you will act accordingly as I Stated herein.
Hoping to receive your response immedaitely.
Thanks and Remain blessed in the Lord.
l remain yours sister in Christ.
Mrs Rose Amin.

You could be one who will receive or has received an email like this (see pink frame on the right).

Don't get too excited. Even though it is a tear-driving story, it is nothing but a manifold copied and sent scam.

The warning about this sort of scam has gone through all media, including the internet, television, radio and the newspapers. This warning is known to me since the year 2000 and has been repeated over and over again. Yet, and that makes me wonder, I still receive these emails. At least once a week I have a slightly different version of this scam in my email inbox.

How can that be?
Why do these people don't give up sending it, since everybody knows now that this is a scam?

Well, the answer is simple: they still send it because it still works! Seems, that not everybody knows about it.

This has guided me to the question, WHY this scam works?

First how it works.

One of many possibilities: Mr. X replies to this email. Once a real contact is made, they will instruct Mr. X to open a bank account, which requires to make an opening deposit. This bank is in Africa and requires a certain amount of opening deposit for this business account, which is in expectation of some million Dollars. The donator of this money needs of course full access to the bank account in order to deposit his money (which is by the way nonsense). And a few days later, rather than having millions on the account, Mr. X finds out, that the account is closed and the opening deposit is gone.

Not to mention those cases, where Mr. X has to make a serious big amount of deposit in order to proof that he is a serious person and deserves this donation...

So, why does this scam works?

The writers of these emails know about human ego issues like temptation and vanity. They know about hopes and desires, as well as the fact that many people are struggling from month to month in an uncertain financial situation, willing to believe in "luck". They know about their chances to find "good but naive" people to draw into this game. And they know about psychological issues like greed, power and megalomania.

It is the huge variety of so many psychological (ego) issues, why this works, and it works in all kinds of social areas.

By the way, this authentic email (top right) is a master piece!...:-) No kidding.
First, somebody actually had to go to my site to find the email form, because I don't publish my email address. Second, I require 3 different fields to be filled out, otherwise it will not be sent. (Compared to mass mailings this is a pretty labour intense way...:-) Anyway, third, it is written in an easy-going naive style, on purpose, there are thoughts behind this style. Fourth, some cute typos, I assume they are on purpose too (well, I would do it that way to make it look more real...:-). Fifth, it is phrased and meant to be for a "believer" - this is the first version of this kind in my inbox, but I figure that soon many other lightworkers and spiritual sites will receive (or have received) this very same email. Sixth, isn't it almost applaudable how much work, effort, intention, and hope for success is put into this scam mail...!?...:-)

Is this right or wrong?

It is neither right nor wrong. It is what it is. It is a scam, and ... just another opportunity to learn specific lessons. It contains also the reminder for each and everyone of us, to examine from time to time our own behaviors, actions and reactions -- what is ego-driven, a pattern, a routine? - and how often do we actually live and act in alignment with Spirit, and allow "Spirit in action" through us?
