Spirit's Jokes with me:
Signs - And It All Starts With The Nosy Question "Why?"

After a handful of accomplished tasks, there I was, standing on the porch and wondering what to think next. All of a sudden, a group of noisy geese flew by.

Out of sheer boredom, I closed one eye and started counting: 1, 2, 3 . . . 25. Uhm, so what? Why 25? And then it occurred to me that 25 sums up to 7. Seven is the number for the year 2005, but not only that: the number 25 contains the exact same ciphers as this year, 2 and 5! I thanked the geese for this great reminder to be in perfect balance with "activity and stillness."

Instead of being restless, thinking of what I should do next, I simply enjoyed the moment of doing nothing – until the idea flashed to use this event as the opening for a new article...:-)

Signs are everywhere. Spirit is constantly throwing countless signs right in front of us and sitting back to watch with big laugher how we miss one after another - or not.

I love the German Autobahn. I love speed, and I ignore speed limits because I drive with a combination of intelligence and intuition. In other words: I use my own judgment. Most of the time, I drive faster than the speed limit. Sometimes, though, if a situation requires it, I drive way slower than the speed limit. It all depends, but usually I am crazy for speed.

One day I was jetting with warp speed 8 over the highway. Suddenly, for no obvious reason, a slower car moved from the middle lane to my left lane. I had to slow down drastically. I felt irritated by this bizarre behavior, and I looked at the car clock to check the time. It was 5:55 PM.

I looked at the speedometer: down to 55 miles an hour now. Annoyed, I started rhyming and singing:

"I never drive
fifty-five
at five fifty-five.

. . . Why, oh why, is this car blocking my lane . . .

I never drive fifty-five
so why do I drive
fifty-five
at five fifty-five??"

Less than 30 seconds later, my question got answered. The slow car in front of me and I passed a bored-looking police officer cruising in the middle lane!

YEAH! I drive fifty-five, I drive fifty-five . . . at five fifty-five! with a victorious, big smile all over my face.

If I wouldn't have entertained myself with the question, "Why?" and the beautiful observation about these numbers, I would have tried to pass the car in front of me via the middle lane, moving back to the left lane and flying along. Thank Spirit, I didn't - and saved myself probably from a $55 speeding ticket...:-)

Well, needless to say, five minutes later I was back to my desired travel speed anyway. And just for the record, ever since I got my driver's license in 1977, I have been accident-free and "almost" ticket free!

But is this really a sign?

Of course it is. And the more you put your mind to these kinds of "incidents," the more you will see and experience this great game of interpreting and reading signs.

Did you ever have a day when all traffic lights seem to stay on red? Where were you going, and what was the outcome? Did you ever have a day, when all traffic lights seem to stay on green? Where were you going, and what was the outcome?

Have you ever seen a word in the sky written by clouds? If not, all I can say is that you have to accept first the possibility of clouds painting words, pictures, and signs into the sky. Once this is an option in your mind, you will see it happen.

Did you ever try to spread certain news, gossip, or any other kind of information, and a loud noise made it impossible to finish the sentence? Thank you Spirit, for this great reminder and time to think: Was this message meant to be shared? Should this be spoken about? And when the interruption is over, the choice is again yours what you are going to talk about.

Have you ever wanted to buy a certain book, yet all you find is the one you don't wish to buy, which oddly appears with every attempt to find the other one? Why do you think you stumble across this other book over and over again and not the one you desire?

Yes, these are all signs.

The key to reading the signs is really simple: whenever something unexpected crosses your way, ask yourself first, "Why?" before taking the next action. The question, "Why?" already includes the possibility of a reason and/or a purpose. And once a reason or a purpose can be detected, as vague as it may be, you will have seen the sign.

Next time you burn your finger, prick yourself with a needle, spill the coffee, or drop the hammer on your toe, ask yourself first, "Why?" A quick answer like "Gee, I was not concentrating," or, "Gosh, I am just clumsy," will guide you nowhere, but judgmental free, analyzing questions will do the job.

Why did that happen? What was your very last thought? What were you really going to do? What were your intentions behind that activity, right before it happened? Is there something you are supposed to acknowledge, to learn, to stop, or to do differently?

Next time somebody or something creates a disturbance on your path, do the very same thing, ask, "Why?" and search if there possibly could be a message. It's all too easy to blame and judge others or circumstances for what happens to you, and it will serve you in no way. But if you try to "read the signs" thrown at you by Spirit with the kind help of your surroundings, then you will soon discover that all these incidences in your life do have a purpose and a reason.

And it all starts with the nosy little question, "Why?"

Love and Light,
