Observer-created Reality
What you bring is what you get
The QuantumThink® Experience

Who is the authority in your life?
Okay, this is a trick question. Obviously, you are. As you contemplate what is explored in QuantumThink, you look to see how it works in your life. Though we may reference "authorities" in different fields, clearly you are the final word in your own life or aren't you? The trick is to see where, up until now, you really have not been the authority in your own life, even though you have assumed you have been. Where have you not been the authority? Wherever there has been a lack of awareness, an automatic nature to things, mechanical, unthinking reactions which have not given you what you wanted. Wherever there has been a lack of distinction. Perhaps you have not in those moments known
in the deft words of the legendary sage, Vasishtha, The world is as you see it.
Every time we say something with authority, as if we know this is how it is we are shaping our reality, crystallizing it. every way you see something is entirely up to you. When you see someone as stupid you are creating him or her that way. When you see a person as brilliant you are creating him or her that way. This is so simple. Yet, it is the most profound awareness we can live.
This realization is echoed by science. Reality as we see it is shaped by our own Observation. In fact, nothing exists until we Observe it. This truth has been experienced by great beings. You and I can be great beings. We can experience ourselves as the Observers in our Observer-created Reality. We can be the authority in our own life.
As we go along you will find that what we have generally accepted as the way things are is not that way at all. In fact, contemporary quantum physicist and author, Fred Alan Wolf, declares undauntedly, everything you now know about the universe and its laws is more than likely to be 99.99% wrong.
This distinction, Observer-created Reality, is a life altering example of this.
An Observer-created Reality means reality as we see it is always being shaped by the way in which we observe it.
It doesn't appear to be this way, looking from the limited of our ordinary five senses. It seems as though there is some objective reality out there that what we see, the objects we see, the people we see are separate from us, and further, it seems like we can accurately describe the way things are. Like, my professor is stuffy, or my wife is scattered, or my boyfriend is selfish, or my manager is hard on his staff or whatever it is you deem to be the so-called truth about the way it is.
It looks like the physical circumstances out there are immutable, absolute quantities that behave in a particular, predictable way.
It seems that what we have to do is manipulate ourselves around those fixed circumstances in an attempt to get our way or to achieve the result we want. Said simply, it looks like we have to change the circumstances. Maybe in an Observer- created world it's not that way at all.
What we are looking at here is that there are circumstances and then there is the matter of how we are related to those circumstances. It is in this relationship in the relationship of ourselves to our circumstances that our power lies.
Let me explain what shifted this.
In 1927 the physicist, Werner Heisenberg, was attempting to measure a particle of energy, and what he found was that he couldn't measure both the speed and the location of the energy at the same time. He could measure either one on its own, but never both together.
Further, he found that the instrument he was using to perform the measurement had an effect on that which he was attempting to observe. From this came the now well known Principle of Uncertainty which in essence states that you can never get certainty; you can never get an objective and absolute truth about what you are observing because nothing is ever standing still or static and the instrument of observation is always altering what is being observed, based on its own inherent attributes.
Later, scientists further discovered that human consciousness itself as an instrument of Observation is actually shaping what we see, as directed by our Intent. This effect, called the observer effect has become a central fact of the quantum world. Intent, the focus and direction of our purposeful attention, is therefore, the primary dynamic of creation for human beings. What we see only exists that way because of how we are looking at it because we ourselves are a part of what we see. As the great meditation master, Swami Muktananda said, The world exists in you as you. What can all this mean for us in our lives? The nature of reality is not fixed but very mutable. It can be changed, it can shift. It is not absolute. Reality is not just out there, separate from us, waiting to be described by some super-human who "knows" the correct description. The quantum Observer-created Reality means we actively participate in what shows up in our experience. Our own human consciousness is the creative force.
Since our interpretation of what we see is what gives us our personal experience moment-by-moment examining what we bring to our Observation becomes very important.
What do we bring to our Observations? What do we bring to our Observations of other people of the situations we are in of what we see going on in the world at large? What observations do we have about ourselves and about what's possible?
Consider that mostly what we bring we are not even aware of. We bring our automatic reactions reactions based on habits and concepts conditioned from the past, from our culture, from our upbringing. Automatic reactions are not thought through. We bring our interpretations, our meanings, and the conclusions we have reached about the way things are about the way the people in our life are about the way people are with each other about the way our company is, our government is whatever you have made up your mind about absolutely. Though these automatic conclusions and interpretations are in the invisible world, though they are not necessarily being spoken; still, they are always there with you shaping what you see and most importantly creating the results you are getting.
This is all very abstract, so let's bring it home now to Mother. Living in an Observer-created world means that lacking awareness, you bring all of your judgments and conclusions about "the way your mother is" with you into every single interaction with your mother, and are part of every single conversation or thought you have about your mother, even when your mother isn't present. It means that even if your mother is acting "different" one day, you probably see it as a fluke, that is, it is an exception to your "rule" about your mother.
Our acts of Observation are creative and participatory. These acts of consciousness take the form of thoughts. You have a thought. You give that thought meaning. That meaning gives you your experience. Your action is shaped by it. Your results are the outcome of your action, which was shaped by the meaning you gave to the thought you had. Semantics? Not really. What's more ...your automatic meanings impact the people in your life.
Think about it. If you go to visit a client, and you have made a judgment about that client that he is difficult to deal with, and you are going into his office with a less than respectful attitude toward that client how do you think that is going to shape how you are with him? How is that going to shape his experience with you? How is that going to shape the results you get with that client?
Consider that you will not feel authentically related with that person. You will be judging him, and he will experience being judged. Though he may not be able to articulate that, he will feel it. The interaction may be strained, not easy. There may be resistance. You may not get the result you want. In an Observer-created Reality, you walk in with difficult client, you walk out with difficult outcome. What you bring is what you get.
The Good News and The Bad News Are The Good News
So what do we get from all of this for ourselves? Consider that you and I are shaping our experience of reality 100% of the time. This is happening with our awareness or without. Now this is great news. Why? Because if reality is absolute, and you have made negative absolute conclusions about people and situations conclusions that do not serve either you or them well then you are going to be stuck with it because if its absolute, there's nothing you can do to alter it. Right? That is the definition of absolute that it is true for all times in all instances and that it is unchangeable. On the other hand, if you and I are living in an Observer-created Reality and we have an awareness of this fact then we have some say so in the matter of how we are going to shape our reality.
Ask yourself: What are you bringing to your Observations? Look at your professional life. What do you bring to your meetings? What judgments and conclusions have you already made about the people you are meeting with? If you are a student, what do you bring to your classrooms? To your approach to studying? To your examinations?
If you live with other family members, as a parent what conclusions are you bringing to your conversations with your children, or your wife or your husband?
If you are a single woman or man, in search of that right person to be in relationship with what conclusions have you made about men or women that you are bringing with you as your personal and absolute truth every time you meet a new person?
You can't possibly be present to something new something novel or unknown if you are bringing your history with you. In an Observer-created Reality, you will find what you are looking for.
What's possible in an Observer-created Reality? The dynamic of what creates in an Observer-created Reality is the Intent of the Observer. When we use the word Intent, we are speaking about it in a very specific way.
An Intent in this sense means one that is consciously created, with awareness in the present moment.
In order to create a new Intent you would have to become aware first of the interpretations and conclusions that are there causing the predictable, mechanical outcomes. When you bring yourself to this awareness, you have choice. In that moment of awareness, you have real choice. You can shift your experience. In fact, you can shift your entire relationship with someone just by realizing that you have the power to do this. You can practice this awareness anytime, anywhere, with anyone. Notice when you have reached a definite conclusion that is giving you your experience. Create an Intent for how you would like to think of that person, for how you would like your relationship to be. The power of Intent is formidable. In fact, you are doing this all the time. The difference is you have been doing this without awareness. Without awareness of this distinction, the default Intent kicks in.
This is so simple that when you realize you can do this, you will be so free. You may even be laughing right now at this cosmic joke the idea that you have been stuck with downward spiraling conclusions that are not the way it is. And all you had to do is become aware that from a new world view, reality is not absolute!
Intent is not a 'cause and effect' type of dynamic. You will not necessarily see a direct straight line linkage between the act of your Intent and the result of it in the world. The dynamic of Intent doesn't work in a mechanical way.
You cannot use your Intent in a way that is manipulative, in the sense of push-pull. What Intent does is set up the nature of relationship between you and the other person. It sets up a relational field like a field of attraction that sets in motion all the probabilities consistent with your Intent.
In the moment-to-moment activities of daily living, we don't often stop to consider or create what is my Intent with regard to this situation or this person that I am in a conversation with right now?
You can do this in any situation, not just with another person. You can shift your experience of driving in traffic. You can shift your experience of stressing out in your work or anything else you choose to alter with the conscious use of your Intent.
The good news is you are free to create. The bad news is you can no longer blame the circumstances. [Translation = It's not his fault, her fault, their fault, it's fault, or the fault of your upbringing.] This is also the good news because if the circumstances have the power in your life then guess what you don't.
Let The Magic Begin!
When you begin living in an Observer- created Reality, the magic begins. When you realize that your mother is not that way (no absolutes), you are free to create her as the most fun, loving character you know, someone totally committed to you having a great life, regardless of what she does or says. This is not positive thinking. You can only live from your created Intent when you know in the depths of your being that there is no absolute way that it is.
When you authentically live from your new Intent you have a different experience. When your experience shifts, you radiate a different attitude, a lighter energy, which in turn resonates with the environment and other people. The circumstances shift like magic! You will think your mother changed. Maybe she will, but don't count on it. Anyway, it will no longer matter.
Please don't take my word for it. After all, you are the authority here.
QuantumThink® Recreation A Practice for the Mind and Awareness:
*Shift a predictable outcome by consciously creating your Intent in the moment.
1. Notice the automatic judgments and conclusions you have about someone in your life which you have been holding as "the way it is about that person.
2. Then, create an Intent for this person with regard to your relationship with him or her an Intent that actually alters what happens between you.
*Watch a movie that illustrates Observer-created Reality. Movies that beautifully demonstrate the Observer effect: "Joe Versus The Volcano" with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, "Being There" with Peter Sellers and Shirley MacLaine, "Life Is Beautiful" with Roberto Benigni and Giorgio Cantarini.
Remember, when you work in the area of consciously creating your Intent, the results are quantum you can expect the unexpected. Expect to be pleasantly surprised, and even amazed!
